Arthroscopy

Keyhole surgery for selected knee and shoulder problems.

Arthroscopy uses small incisions and a camera to assess and treat specific problems inside a joint. It is useful for selected conditions — not every painful joint needs arthroscopy.

What can arthroscopy treat?

Depending on the joint and diagnosis, arthroscopy may be used for meniscal repair, ligament reconstruction, treatment of selected cartilage lesions, shoulder stabilisation procedures and other intra-articular problems.

Knee arthroscopy

Common indications include selected meniscus tears, ligament reconstruction and certain cartilage procedures. Degenerative knee pain without a clear mechanical target often requires a different treatment strategy.

Shoulder arthroscopy

Arthroscopy can be used for selected instability and labral injuries, rotator cuff pathology and other conditions after the diagnosis and treatment goals are clearly established.

Procedure choice follows diagnosis.

The value of arthroscopy depends on treating a defined structural problem that matches the patient's symptoms and examination.
