Assessment is sport-specific
A footballer, runner, recreational gym user and sedentary patient can have the same MRI finding but very different functional requirements. Treatment planning should consider the movement demands the patient needs to return to.
Rehabilitation and surgery
Many sports injuries improve with structured rehabilitation. Surgery may be considered when mechanical problems, recurrent instability, repairable tissue injury or the patient's sporting demands make operative treatment appropriate.
Time from surgery is only one part of readiness. Strength, movement quality, stability, confidence and sport-specific testing matter too.
